Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 14 Spoilers – Sakura’s Return and Implications for Naruto’s Healing Abilities

sakura healing power

We finally have the early spoilers for Chapter 14 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex, which shows that Sakura has returned to the story. The statements made in these spoilers have some implications on the healing factor established for Naruto characters in the original series. We have much to discuss regarding that, but we will start from the top.

We have no idea when this took place in the chapter itself, as we’ll have to wait until the full spoilers come out to see. But Sakura is using her medical ninjutsu to heal Inojin, and she’s also doing something relevant for later on. She goes on to say, “This is amazing! I can hardly believe he was stabbed through the torso. It’s almost completely healed.” Himawari didn’t fully heal his body. I assume there’s some damaged tissue, and that’s what Sakura is finishing up with her medical ninjutsu.

What I found interesting is that Sakura found this amazing, which is curious because we’ve seen similar feats before in the Naruto universe. For example, in Part One, Naruto healed from the damage done to his body after tanking a Chidori to his chest. I should clarify that Naruto didn’t take the Chidori directly to any vital organs, as Sasuke pointed out. Naruto could redirect the hit to his shoulder, though his lung was still partly damaged. He was able to heal his entire shoulder bone, and this wasn’t just tissue damage—it was bone damage and even partly lung damage—which he healed in seconds. This was an insane feat, even back then.

Fast forward to Naruto Shippuden, and you had Sakura in a situation with Madara himself, where Sasuke cut him in half before he teleported to another dimension. You could argue that Sakura didn’t know about this, although that would be a bit weird since the other half of Madara’s body was left on the battlefield, and you could argue she should have been able to sense it, given the potency of his chakra. Still, you could say she wasn’t aware of this because Madara teleported back to the original dimension, already fully healed.

Even putting that event aside, you could go back to the war again, where Tsunade was cut in half by Madara’s Susano’o. Despite that, she was able to stay alive the entire time. Even though Tsunade wasn’t able to heal herself (because she had to be saved by Orochimaru, using Karin’s blood), it wasn’t because she lacked the ability, but because she was using her chakra to keep the other Hokage alive. Outside of that scenario, she could’ve put herself back together after being cut in half, which is insane.

So, something like this shouldn’t surprise Sakura, who worked under Tsunade and learned about the Mitotic Regeneration Jutsu from her. I’m not sure why Sakura finds this surprising unless she’s looking at it from the perspective of someone without Mitotic Regeneration but instead with a Tailed Beast—Himawari. I’m waiting for the full context of this conversation and what Sakura knows. Naruto didn’t show Sakura any feat of healing such severe damage during the war, though he was healing minor injuries and protecting people using Kurama’s chakra. He wasn’t restoring limbs and organs, so this makes sense.

Now, we also have the rest of Team 10 in the room. Cho-Cho wonders when Inojin will wake up, as he’s currently unconscious. Sakura responds, “The chakra flow inside him has been blocked, but it’ll be okay if I ease it.” She says he’ll probably wake up soon and praises them for bringing him to her.

This goes back to Naruto Shippuden when Naruto first met Orochimaru and transformed into the Four-Tails for the first time. In that fight, Naruto slapped Sakura when she tried to calm him down. He was, of course, not in control of Kurama at that point. What connects this to the current situation is that Sakura couldn’t fully recover from the internal damage despite healing her visible wounds. The Nine-Tails chakra is poisonous or toxic, as seen with the Gold and Silver Brothers, Kinkaku and Ginkaku. Kurama consumed them and, by eating part of his stomach wall, gained the ability to transform into miniature versions of the Nine-Tails.

Others tried to replicate this with other Tailed Beasts but failed because the Tailed Beast chakra is poisonous to most humans. However, the Gold and Silver Brothers succeeded because they were descendants of Hagoromo, not Otsutsuki. So, Sakura was pretty much being destroyed from the inside, unable to mold chakra and fight. She was eventually saved by Kabuto, who, at that time, was a better medical ninjutsu user (though some still argue that he’s better now).

This brings us back to Inojin. Even though a Tailed Beast bomb or tail didn’t attack him, he was still struck by a Shinju, which are God Trees that are portions of the Ten-Tails. So, he was exposed to the Tailed Beast chakra, which could poison him. Sakura might be trying to remove that chakra, allowing him to regain consciousness once the disruption is gone.

Alternatively, it could be something simpler, like a splinter of wood blocking his chakra network. There is precedent for this in Kakashi’s novel, where a female character, using Ice Release, planted tiny ice particles in Kakashi’s body, which blocked his chakra system. She could do this remotely or by touching him, which disabled his chakra system despite him being more robust than the version of himself that fought Madara and Obito during the war.

In Chapter 13 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex , something similar happened to Sarada. She was sniped by Jura in her left hand, and Konohamaru seemed worried about possible nerve damage. I found it odd that he was concerned about nerve damage, given that medical ninjutsu should be able to heal it. Maybe I missed something about nerve damage not being fully healable, even in the Naruto universe.

Jura also stated that Himawari’s healing factor surpasses that of any human and Jinchuriki and is almost on the level of the Bijuu. The key word is “almost,” which is curious since the Eight-Tails still hasn’t regenerated the horn it lost. That may not be the case for every Bijuu.

Let me know your thoughts on the chapter and spoilers. I’m looking forward to what happens. This text-heavy chapter will contain much information about the story’s direction. We’re not likely to get into a fight, but I’m okay with that since I enjoy chapters with more information to speculate on.

We should get more details on the Otsutsuki and what’s happening with Toneri and Momoshiki. We haven’t seen Momoshiki in a long time, so I’m curious about his role. We’ll also get the interrogation scene, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s reaction to Kurama being alive. Kurama was pivotal during the war, and these characters have some connection to him. I want their responses to Kurama’s return and the mystery behind how he’s back inside Naruto.

I’m also curious to see who the new Shinju will be. Some rumors suggest it’s Kakashi, though I don’t think that’s true. I won’t be surprised if it turns out to be someone else. The Shinju we saw at the end of the last chapter is Shinki. It’s a separate Shinju, but we’ll see. If it’s Kakashi, that would be cool, but I won’t lose sleep over it.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
