Boruto Chapter 16 Spoilers: Team Shinki, Konohamaru & Predictions

So, we finally have early spoilers for Chapter 16 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex! This time, we see Team Shinki welcoming Konohamaru to the Land of Wind. Let’s break down what’s happening.

As you all know, this is just a sneak peek; full spoilers will be out in a few days. For now, this preview shows Team Shinki’s ninjas saying, “Welcome to the Land of Wind. I appreciate your cooperation.” Konohamaru replies, “Nice to meet you. Let’s head there right away.

Team Shinki Members

The characters here are members of Team Shinki, who last appeared in Boruto Chapter 15.

  1. Yodo – The female member who had more development in the anime than in the manga. Skilled in Taijutsu and agility, she stood out in her fight against Shikadai. Yodo’s most interesting ability is her sensitive hearing, allowing her to sense even the slightest movements over long distances—she can fight without seeing her opponent. To counter her, Shikadai cleverly masked his movements with bomb sounds. Yodo can also generate powerful sonic booms, a sound-based Jutsu somewhat reminiscent of Temari.
  2. Araya – Another team member who is misnamed (Yodo seems like a better fit, ironically). Though he received minimal screen time, he showed more skill, specializing in Kenjutsu (swordsmanship) and the Puppet Technique. He manipulated a lifelike puppet replica of himself and fought Sarada, even after she activated the Sharingan. Although this was a weaker version of Sarada, his control over the puppet allowed him to match her skill. Araya can extend his chakra threads over a considerable distance, enabling long-distance combat as well as close-range swordplay.

Team Shinki’s Role: So far, nothing suggests that Team Shinki can handle a Shinju’s power—especially considering that Gaara and Team Shinki previously lost to the Matsuri Shinju. Curiously, Konohamaru and Team 10 are assigned to protect Gaara, implying that Konohamaru may now be stronger than Gaara, especially since he could react to Hidari’s close-range attacks without a Sharingan—a feat more impressive than Sarada’s, given his lack of visual aids.

Konohamaru vs. Matsuri?

Narratively, Konohamaru is unlikely to defeat Matsuri alone, as that would diminish Team 10’s purpose. The most probable scenario is that Matsuri will still overpower him to some degree, giving Shikadai and Chocho a chance to shine.

Team 10 and Mitsuki

Since Inojin is probably still out of action, someone will need to fill in for this mission. Mitsuki seems the likely choice—he has a history with Shinki from their Chunin Exam fight, where they showed interest in each other’s abilities. This setup could lead to an anticipated Sage Mitsuki vs. Shinki showdown, as Mitsuki forfeited their last match in Part 1.

The Matsuri and Shinki Shinju Encounter

I believe we’ll see both Matsuri and Shinki Shinju in in the upcoming chapter, as Ryu is after Gaara. If Konohamaru and Team 10 are tasked with Gaara’s protection, a battle is inevitable. Since Matsuri targets Konohamaru, she’ll likely show up to confront him, too. It’s a daunting setup for Team 10, but if Sage Mitsuki can handle Shinki, the rest could focus on Matsuri.

Boruto’s Possible Intervention

Given that Boruto’s hideout is also in the Land of Wind, there’s a chance he might intervene and help them before things get out of hand.

A Fake Panel Warning

Lastly, I wasn’t sure whether to mention this, but it’s worth noting. On Twitter, someone shared a spoiler panel supposedly showing Boruto using his Jougan and Karma Seal as he walks toward the Shinju. This is definitely fake; it’s actually a panel from Chapter 3 of Boruto, where Boruto walks toward Code with his Rasengan. So, if anyone saw that on Twitter, it’s not a real spoiler—keep that in mind!

In this portion of the article, I’ll address some predictions from Boruto fans regarding Chapter 16 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.

shiki and shikadai

Prediction 1: User “First 12” suggests that Boruto and Kawaki’s conversation will be interrupted by Shikamaru, who urgently calls Kawaki to his office. Before leaving, Boruto hands Kawaki one of his Flying Thunder God (FTG) seals, assuring him he’ll be close by. Shikamaru then assembles a team to assist Gaara and the Sand Village, with Konohamaru leading Kawaki, Mitsuki, Sarada, and Shikadai on this mission. Meanwhile, Sai is expected to lead Konoha’s defenses, with Delta, Daemon, Sumire, Inojin, and Chocho joining him.

I find this interesting because while Mitsuki will indeed join the team heading to the Sand Village, I doubt Sarada, especially Kawaki, will leave the village. That would mean many of Konoha’s strongest characters are absent, leaving the village vulnerable, especially since Konohamaru and Sarada are targets for the Shinju. Additionally, it feels unlikely that Kawaki, who is primarily focused on Naruto’s village and people, would leave while Himawari (another Shinju target) remains in the village. However, there’s always a chance I’m wrong, and they do end up leaving.

Prediction 2: This one predicts Konohamaru and Boruto will have a brief conversation where they agree that Boruto will assist Konohamaru’s team and report to Shikamaru. Boruto also mentions that he’ll have someone watching Konoha in case help is needed—the person being Kashin Koji. I think this could very well happen, as it makes sense given Boruto’s current proximity to the Land of Wind, making him an ideal backup if needed. The prediction also mentions Kankuro as the acting Kage in Gaara’s absence, which seems like an obvious choice.

Prediction 3: According to this one, Kawaki consults Eida regarding Amado and the modifications made to his body. She confirms the modifications but warns that removing them could be dangerous, as they’re vital to his survival. Kawaki is advised to train until he’s able to fight without needing increased defense and regeneration. I doubt this prediction will play out. Kawaki doesn’t have time for prolonged training to reach the power needed to confront Jura, so it seems more likely that the limiters will be removed. Additionally, the idea that limiters would make his defense and regeneration drop below maximum while increasing his offensive power feels off. Limiters cap a stat rather than redistributing power across different areas, so I don’t think that’s the situation here, but I could be mistaken.

With that said, let me know your thoughts below! What do you think is coming in Chapter 16 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex? Do you think Mitsuki will join the mission? Will he face Shinki and perhaps even tap into his true power—especially given his past defeat to Boruto? Let me know your predictions, and maybe I’ll write a full blog post on Mitsuki’s potential, though I can’t help but rant about how disappointing his loss to Boruto was. Anyway, let me know your thoughts below!
